We are pleased to announce that after last year’s successful inaugural Rugby Beer Festival we have our 2nd Festival event on the weekend of the Queens Diamond Jubilee from the 1st to the 3rd June. We had over one thousand people attended our event last year and were lucky to get great PR on ITV as well as BBC local radio. This success surpassed all our expectations! So this year’s Festival will start at 7pm on Friday 1st June.
Last year our goal was to help regenerate our juniors section. This has proved extremely successful and we have re-established two new teams at Under 12’s and 13’s level with some 40 new children involved. Our Minis to Under 11’s have seen their numbers increased by almost 100%.This year we are trying to again give as much support to this area as this is the life-blood of our club. This can be seen in our successful 1st XV which has an average age of 21 years old!
We have planned a fun-filled weekend with Rugby Sevens on the Saturday, on the Sunday an open invitation family ‘Six Nations’ Touch Rugby tournament followed by a Rugby League match, local bands for each evening, but also in association with Leisure Works the Sunday will be a Family Fun day, with lots of free activities supported by other groups and organisations.
To help us achieve our goal and promote the Rugby in Derwentside and the activities we are involved with we are asking our supporters to again help sponsor our selection of drinks we will have on offer in the marquee. If you are interested in sponsoring this event please contact one of the organising committee members - Mark Swinney, Graeme Spratt, Mel Spratt, Stephen Embleton, Dave Trott, Derek Clark, Denise Trott or Richie Armitt.
We are sure this year’s beer festival will receive huge support from the local people of Derwentside as well our local businesses and organisations in the North East. We hope you will be able to help us continue to support our goal of providing rugby for children and teenagers in Derwentside.

its a family day its open to everyone but you wont be able to drink but you can still come along and take part in the activities that will be going on
HI we are looking for people to help out on this great day anyone wanting to help see Bev and Michelle ( in the club house on sundays ) to see waht you can do more helpers the better and if you have any ideas on activities we can do on the day just let us know
