Final Notice!
Saturday saw us hold our 7s tournament which was won by the Wailers, thanks to all the players the referees and supporters for their support. Thanks also to Phil Haswell of Westoe RFC who has kindly shared the photos he took of the action, please refer to the photos section. In the marquee we had a cake stand, tombola, face painting and our bucking bronco which proved to be very popular! Music and entertainment was provided by Craghead Colliery band and Newcastle Kingsmen Dance Troop. ‘The Notice’ took us into the evening and played a excellent set to a packed audience and had the place ‘bouncing.’ Everyone was well fed with the burgers and hot dogs proving very popular. We had extra supplies of the Strawberry beer but is still wasn’t enough! however there were lots of other beers, ciders and wines to chose from. Today(Sunday), sadly is our last day and we aim to go out with a bang! We are having a family fun day -our Six nations family touch tournament starts at 12 and at 2.30 we have Consett Steelers versus Winlaton Warriors playing rugby league. Music and entertainment will be provided by ‘The Ragpickers’, Consett Brass Band and returning by popular demand ‘The Buskers’. Photos of yesterday to follow: Today’s itinerary: Sunday 3rd June Bar opens 12 noon - closes at 10pm (Note – free bus available at 10pm back to Consett) Entertainment & Music: Kids activities from 12 noon until late: Bouncy Castles, Bungee run, Rodeo, Coconut shy and much more 1pm – 4pm – The Ragpickers 4pm – 5pm – Members of Consett Brass Band 7pm – 10pm – The Buskers Sporting Events: 12 noon – 2pm – Six Nations Family ‘Touch’ Rugby ‘open to all over 18s’ 2.30pm – 4.30pm – Consett Steelers Vs Winlaton Warriors Rugby League match .

Canny Crack!
Our second annual beer festival started on Friday. On Friday afternoon we held our girls rugby tournament, a special thanks to all the local schools, the teachers and the parents for attending, this has proved popular and shown how much demand there is for girls rugby in Derwentside! Bestselling children’s author Terry Deary ,the author of ‘Horrible Histories’ kindly agreed to come along and present the winning team with their trophy and two of the girls for the best performance. Terry is now involved in two new projects – a film and a book - which actively promote accessibility for women in sport. As expected. Everyone enjoyed the range of beers, lagers, wines and ciders available and the ‘Canny Crack’ provided the Irish Music, the strawberry beer didn’t last long again! Don’t worry we have stocked up! The photos of last night have been uploaded, see below(free registration required). This is whats happening today(Saturday): Bar opens 12 noon – closes at 10pm (Note – free bus available at 10pm back to Consett) Entertainment & Music: Kids activities from 12 noon until late: Bouncy Castles, Bungee run, Rodeo, Coconut shy, raffles and much more 2pm – 4pm – Craghead Colliery Brass Band 4pm – 5pm – Newcastle Kingsmen Dance Troop 7pm – 10pm – The Notice Sporting Events: 2pm – 7pm – Consett Rugby Sevens tournament .
