Our second annual beer festival started on Friday. On Friday afternoon we held our girls rugby tournament, a special thanks to all the local schools, the teachers and the parents for attending, this has proved popular and shown how much demand there is for girls rugby in Derwentside! Bestselling children’s author Terry Deary ,the author of ‘Horrible Histories’ kindly agreed to come along and present the winning team with their trophy and two of the girls for the best performance. Terry is now involved in two new projects – a film and a book - which actively promote accessibility for women in sport. As expected. Everyone enjoyed the range of beers, lagers, wines and ciders available and the ‘Canny Crack’ provided the Irish Music, the strawberry beer didn’t last long again! Don’t worry we have stocked up! I was there on the Sunday and it was amazing. It was a shame that I couldn't go on the Friday or the Saturday because I was busy. There is always next year!. I went on the Sunday to help out with the 'family fun' activities and that was great crack. I hope that there is going to be a beer festival / Family fun day again next year because I woud just love to come and help out.
