The Tangerines were missing several players due to holidays and work commitments but the team selected made a good account of themselves in the opening period before defensive frailties came to the fore.
The Conference North side scored five of their six goals in a devastating 20 minute spell before half time. A number of changes were made for the second half and Conwy started on the front foot. Goals from Jamil Adam and Aaron Rey brought the scores back to 5-2 with further good chances created for the home side to peg back the scoreline. However, more slack defending allowed the visitors to grab their sixth late on.
"I thought during the opening twenty minutes of the game we competed and were disciplined in our approach." said first team coach Paul Braithwaite "Unfortunately though, we then began to be careless with the football and lost concentration at vital times and have been punished for it."
"The second half was pleasing as the players came out and gave a positive response however it was always a fixture we were going to learn a lot more about ourselves from."
Next up for the Tangerines is another good test as Welsh Premier League side, Connahs Quay are the visitors to Y Morfa (KO 2.30pm).
