A Ross Rule goal within 3 minutes earned a 1-0 win at Llanfair Utd on Wednesday night and ensured the Tangerines league safety.

A great ball over the top from Lee Davey set Rule away and the forward made no mistake with his finish low into the corner from inside the box for his fourth goal in a Conwy shirt.

The home side looked to break with direct balls over the top and their lively striker Jamie Davies caused problems with his pace but was wasteful with his chances.

In the second half chances again went begging for both sides. Joe Chaplin & Leigh Craven saw their efforts well saved and Ross Rule hit the bar again when through on goal. The Tangerines rode their luck at times but the home side could not make their chances count. Conwy held on to claim the all important three points that makes safety assured.

"It was a solid performance last night, we were not at our best, but it was enough." said Aldcroft.

"We had some hairy moments but were resilient in our defending. The finish from Ross Rule was typical of his season since joining us. He has been a breath of fresh air, his attitude has been first class and it has rubbed off on people!".

Reflecting on his time since taking over at the beginning of December Aldcroft commented: "The players have given everything in a tough league this season. We built a new team in December which has competed and bought into the clubs philosophy."

"I would like to thank everybody at the club for their hard work and effort.

"Everybody can enjoy their summer and look forward to a new campaign. Both myself and "Tosh" are young, hungry managers and cannot wait until next season. We believe the foundations are set to compete at the other end of the table."

The Tangerines moved upto 11th in the table with the win and above the managers former club Buckley Town.

The final match of the season on Saturday is away to Rhayader (KO 2.30pm) who sit bottom of the table and were heavily beaten at Y Morfa just a few weeks ago.
