YOUNG STRIKER SIGNS AS MORE PLAYERS COMMIT

Conwy Borough Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of promising striker, Mark Jones, who was previously with Porthmadog and Airbus FC

Jones, 20-years-old, was signed in July 2011 by Airbus UK Broughton from Bodedern, where he was a prolific scorer in the Welsh Alliance Division Two, before moving to Porthmadog in October 2011. He has also represented the North Wales Coast at Under 18 level and is currently studying at Bangor University.

He had this to say following signing for the club:
"I really appreciated the interest shown in me by the club. I was really impressed with the set up and the plans for the future and its definitely a club "on the up". I also see quality in the squad that could see us challenge for Welsh Premier football in the near future. I look forward to the season ahead and being successful in a Conwy Borough shirt"

Conwy Borough manager Chris Herbert said: “Mark was my number one target for a striker and I'm thrilled to have Mark join us. He had very good offers to go elsewhere, but he saw the plans in place for Conwy as a club, and I think that made his decision easier. Mark will be one of the top scorers in the league this season, I've no doubts about that.”

Midfielder, Craig Griffiths, also joins the club from West Cheshire Champions Ashville. He said: “I'm looking forward to playing for Conwy, I'm just glad I'm now signed and can concentrate on giving my all to the club.”

Herbert was pleased to secure the services of the experienced midfielder: “Craig Griffiths comes in after winning everything at Ashville last season in the West Cheshire league. He is a neat and tidy player who can go and mix it when needed. Every time that I've seen Craig he has impressed me, and sure he can do well as a Conwy player.”

A warm welcome to both players and hope you have a enjoyable and successful time at the club. It is nice to welcome someone who like the club has come up from a lower league and that he has the ambition to go further and has picked our club to do it with
