As Elvis Pressley sang "I don't have a wooden heart" fortunately for Corby Hockey they did have a Wood 'n' Hart as they scored two late goals to secure the victory that assures them of at least 8th place. Sharks supplied all the early pressure and were unlucky not to score as keeper Barry Coe pulled off a double save. They were eventually breached when a slick counter atacck caught Corby short of numbers giving the forward an easy tap in. Paul Donnelly was unlucky not to score when he hit the keeper when it was easier to pop the ball in and Matt Wood's deflection went narrowly over. Trailing at the half Corby were more positive in the second period and equalised when John Brown picked out Wood whose strike at goal went through the keeper. Now with their tails up Corby surged forward and an excellent piece of umpiring saw play carry on through two short corners leaving a simple pull back for Andy Hart to fire home from close range. As only Corby know how there was no way back in for the youthful hosts as Corby's old stagers killed the game off in the last ten minutes. This week Corby travel to old rivals Ramgarhia knowing a victory might move them up the table. The victory against Sharks was even more important as the National League could see 3 Midland teams relegated which means three teams drop from East Premier with only one promoted.
