A new and worrying trend is taking root and needs weeding out. On Saturday there was a distinct acceptance that getting a point was a good result despite being in a winning position at half time…

It used to be the case that Corsham would start slowly and come with a rush in the second half. This season would now suggest the opposite to be true. On a ghastly Dorcan weather day, Corsham, after a ponderous, lacklustre, opening 15, cried havoc and let slip the dogs of war in the second, to put together their most complete quarter of the season. It was beautiful to watch and warmed the cockles of the massed ranks of fans battling the elements on the side lines… Yes, both of us were overjoyed.

That was as good as it got… The second half descended into chaos with sloppy handling, misplaced passes and confusion rampant… What happened…? There was talk of the weather conditions interceding, but as far as I remember, the sun didn’t come out and the wind didn’t drop when Burmah had the ball… As with last week’s outing with Purton, focus was lost, the game plan foundered, confidence was sunk and the ability to string 3 passes together went with it.

There is also a worrying trend surrounding availability, or lack of, that further disrupts team selection because, as we all know, Netball is a game best played with seven players that know each other’s game inside out. So, in short, make yourselves available and never settle for second.

On another note, last week’s challenge was actually completed so this week…

Burmah player; Alice Wilson, told ya’ so…
