Was it the early start..? Corsham, still abed, yet again started in somnambulistic fashion and paid the price. If you lose the first quarter by eleven and lose the whole game by eleven… You don’t need Miss Marple to crack the case, Corsham butchered the opening fifteen.
Far too liberal with possession, Corsham looked on as a ruthless Nationwide made off with the swag bag, leaving a distinct deficit in the Corsham goals for account. After a brisk emergency general meeting at the break Corsham steadied the ship and returned a small, one goal, profit, leaving them 29-19 in the red at the half.

A further run on the bank of Corsham saw all but their staunchest investors head for the car park as Nationwide extended their lead to 14 at three quarter time. 43-29. Yes, the three staunch investors courtside had given up on any thought of any dividend payout for this game.

A fourth quarter rally saw Corsham back into the black for the period, eventually going to the wall by the score of 53-42…!

All joking aside, it doesn’t get much easier this coming weekend with Fairford on the slate followed by a dangerous looking Lawn B, both teams currently above Corsham in the table. Clearly, a faster start is required or bankruptcy proceedings may be in the offing.

Correspondents player; Shelley Meiklereid, yes, even picked off one of their centre passes, it can be done.

Nationwide player; Deb Carson; no argument here, making a strong early run at POTY.
The challenge for last week was actually achieved… How many of you were paying attention…?

The challenge for this week – and all coming weeks – is to win the first quarter…!
