Man of Match: Oliver D'Arcy
Match Report:
As I spent most of the match looking through a video camera, I can't really make a match report, but I do have the game hopefully on a DVD (when I go and buy some blanks)and I think Rob is going to go through the action with you.
I did hear the referee say to Martin that it was the best game he had ref'd this season, so all you lads should be very proud.
I have enjoyed watching the game back, Hutchie's running on the ball and making yards forward was great, Brants made some brilliant yards, Jack Taylor and Corey Watts, Eddie Walker and Owen some brilliant tackles. Ollie's distibution was worthy of his man of the match performance. Louie as always running and tackling very hard. Jack Shaw running very powerfull.
Just sorting the photos now and all I can say is WOW !!
A very physical game which I'm sure you all felt.
I am so proud of you all for the fight you put up and your efforts showed in the half time score.
I saw you all apply things from the training field, never giving up, chasing down tackles and breaks and most of all quickly playing the ball when tackles were made against you and in backing up each other when it mattered.
I think you could have been a bit more organised in the attacking line and at one point Ryan crossed the try line only to be held up and pushed back. Kaan 's tacke in the wests goal area forcing a drop out was first rate and Wildey's take of the high ball under pressure was great. everyone has the bumps and bruises as souvenirs.
A great team effort lads we are so proud of you.
Sam Wilde's running today was superb, soo powerful and never afraid
Kev if I could get a copy and watch it before training would be great thanks.
Will try and get you it tomorrow if I can
Can't fault our effort today ,it makes me extremely proud to be part of such a great set of lads who had a real dig today, ok we gave far to
Much ball away and looked a little panicky when we got near their line but I have to say that's the best I've seen us play defensively for such a long time, I feel what we have bin learning in training for years really showed today (umbrellas, double up, aggresion in the tackle, working off, tackle technique, etc) . So now we need to work harder on our attack whilst at the same time making sure our defence doesn't falter. There were many times in the game I thought if we could just complete our sets and get to the kick we might score a try or force a repeat set, but unfortunately as good as our defence was when u gift that much ball it's hard not to concede a try sooner or later . Special mentions to our centres and wingers who did an excellent Job repelling wests attack, I will be ecstatic if they can continue that kind of form for the rest of the season . And a big pat on the back to olly Darcy who not only talked the talk this week but walked the walk by this I mean he promised to improve his game this week and delivered massively , you have shown us what you can do now olly and we will expect no less from now on. I love it when MOM goes to someone who shows us a different side of his game ,funny how not wanting to feel the embarrassment of past experiences can change our focus on a game, this is exactly what we mean we ask for concentration, focus and maturity ( this is the first time I've used olly and maturity in the same sentence haha) (one day I hope to slip Joel into that sentence too!!!!)
On a serous note Joel has bin beating himself up I little bit after the game and I know one or two others have too, but don't worry guys just get youdelves to training and work hard on correcting your faults and who knows, next week MOM could belong to you. Well done again to every single one of you and come on you tigers !!!!!!
I think so many positives are coming out of this short season, and like Rob always says we shouldnt get to hung up about results especially when you all put in a shift like today.
We tend to forget we have quite a few raw players who are fairly new to the team and the game itself so the future is looking great as long as we all dont pile on the pounds during the long break and we are committed to being as good as we can be, mind you I'm sure the coaches will soon have you looking trim ready for us to start in earnest in March.
As Hutchy says your setting your own standards dont go backwards in your performance! Great effort today, not nice to taste defeat but keep an eye on the bigger picture because we can and will be competetive in the majority of the games we play.
Sorry lads today I was probaly one of the main causes of getting beat today because of all the balls I dropped I promise I
Won't let you Down next week like I did last week
can't fault the effort boys, but our execution was poor.BUT THEIR ARE ALOT MORE positives then negatives to take out of the game.our commitment to everything we did was fantastic our kick chase pressure was fantastic on the back of presty's best kicking game he has had for us.i have asked for us all to follow our captain and his aggresive attitude towards defence this box was definitley ticked and you have set yourselves astandard that you should always reach well done. i thought ellis had his best game for us and is learning all the time,he fronted up in defence and with the ball in hand his distribution was excellent and never got overshadowedc by his good pal.i know their are a few dissapointed lads out there but ask yourselves did you enjoy this game or beating vikings 50 -0 i know the game your parents enjoyed more, and enjoyment is the main reason we do what we do.no worries joel but boys please do not beat yourselves up when you have tried your hardest only you and hutch and i know when you have'nt then and only then do your team mates require an apology.bilton away 11am kick off this sunday lets defend like that and get our attack going .very proud coach.
it james.
I think on sunday we had one of our best games as a team, moving up in defence and getting into their faces. Now we are almost solid in defence, we have to link that with our great attack, no worries Joel and it was'nt just your fault, im sorry too for dropping a couple but i was able to make it up by my defence, loved the way everyone in the changing rooms before the match were ready and eager to give the game ago unlike sometimes we arnt thinking about rugby, only because its west hull doesnt mean that we can only play great against them, we have to produce the same effort, commitment and fight week in week out. loved the game on sunday. come on you tigerss!!!!!
well sed james if we all concentrate on ball handeling with a slippy ball tht might help us abit. We tryed our hardest thats all we can do.CUM ON COTTTT!!

Lads sorry for giving away the ball by dropping the kick I won't let you down cause I've been try catching at school p.s sorry if I spellt it wrong I'm crap at English :) :)
George, The mistakes made at rugby are all part of the learning process and remember what Rob and Hutch are telling you above. They are telling you not to beat yourself up so long as you have tried your hardest.
As for being crap at English; this is inexcusable and you need to work on this.
See me after class!
