The Dragons committee are really excited about hosting this premier event. When you look at some of the teams that have won this trophy and then some of the players that have played in those teams you get a real sense of how big a completion like this is.
With it being played on the Jubilee weekend it feels like an even bigger occasion.
The tournaments first round of games will kick off at 13:00 with each team being put into a round robin style league of 4 teams.
All Dragons players must meet at 12:00 to be registered by 12:15 bring £5 subs for refs, Food, phsyio, kit washing, tournament entry, etc and their own shorts and socks.
This weekend also pays homage to the Coventry Dragons policy of bringing new people into the rugby league family with over 10 players making there rugby league debuts at the club this means the Dragons will be fielding two strong 9’s squads.
Coach Lee Ashford said “I am really looking forward to seeing a few of the new boys have a run out and will be keeping a close eye on big halfback/centre Rob Thompson and winger Cameron Tune, I am also looking forward to seeing a return of James Horrocks who was so important to the Dragons success last season. It is also a huge step for the club having over 30 guys available for selection. “
Let’s hope the sun comes out and the Jubilee Midlands 9’s is a huge success.
