Applications invited for an Under 13's manager at our FA Charter Standard Club

7 months ago By Sharon Taylor

Would you be interested in this rare opportunity to coach and manage one of our existing teams?

Coventry Sphinx have over 22 Junior teams as well as the Youth team who play in the Midland Floodlit Youth League and our First Team who play in the Premier Division of the Midland Football League. We are committed to providing the best facilities and opportunities to all who play in a Sphinx shirt and all who support these players.

This would be an ideal opportunity for an aspiring coach who is looking to start their journey in voluntary junior management, or someone who already has the skills to help develop this group of committed young lads who last season earned promotion into the Coventry and Warwickshire 'D' League.

Due to a change in work commitment our current Under 13's manager is unable to continue in his role but he would be happy to support the new manager during a handover.

What competition do the team play in and how many games are played?
The team will compete in the Coventry and Warwickshire 'D' League and the league cup and Bedworth Nursing Cup. The league season is 18 games long.

When are games played and when is training?
League games will be played on a Sunday lunchtime/early afternoon. The team have a training slot on our new 3G pitch/grass pitch (weather dependent) on a Thursday evening.

What can we offer to you?
As a Charter Standard Club we require all of our junior managers to have at least the Level 1 FA Coaching qualification or are happy to work towards this qualification which will be part funded by Coventry Sphinx FC.
All teams are provided with playing kit and we ask that managers bring in a shirt sponsor for at least 2 years and we can also offer support with this if needed.
Obviously, we also provide the kit for hosting a game such as goals, balls and corner flags.

We also insist that all managers and coaches undergo a DBS check which will be organised by our Safeguarding Officer.

We ask that you are committed to developing this young side. There will be admin that will require completion alongside the training and games and we can again offer support with this.

If you are interested and would like to register your interest then please email in the first instance by the end of the day on Friday 22 June. Please include your name and a contact number and details of any teams you have been involved with. Please remember that this role is based on supporting the current players who will be playing their first season at 11 a side.
