We are delighted to announce the addition of Craig Herbert to the first team management set up.

Craig brings with him a big background in the non-league game at a number of levels, having played professionally at West Brom, Shrewsbury before then settling at Rugby Town where he was Club Captain with over 250 appearances and a couple stints as caretaker manager, before becoming the Assistant Manager to Dave Stringer. In the later years Rugby have made the play off positions and prior to Craig leaving this year they were around that level in the table.

The announcement has been delayed with Craig taking a look at the set up and been to last few games of the season, but the addition is in place and have now taken the opportunity to announce it with the time being right of close season looking to build.

Manager Luke Hopkins see's Craig as a major signing to the club and said.

'Getting Herbs on board alongside myself and Dutts is a massive step forward for us, he's been there and done it in the league above playing, coaching and assisting a manager. so we are hoping he can help in many ways and show to higher calibre of players we mean business this coming season. When I brought Dutts into the club it was major addition and he put together largely the youth team which has been successful this year at youth level and developed into the first team level adding Herbs and his experience I think it gives us the perfect blend.

People may laugh and think it's all talk, but we have just done our development year of getting lads aged 16 to 18, 30 to 50 games under their belt, they are now a year older and have some crucial experience that add the players we want to attract to that we think it’s a good mixture to help us challenge on a sustainable budget.

Other clubs, hide the fact they give a few lads a few quid for petrol and a drink after the game, but let's be realistic there are teams two levels below us have a 4 figure budget each week to play with, so if you want to compete in your local areas for the player pool you need to add to the package on offer, we have always offered a good environment to play in and tried to look after the lads as one as a unit, adding Craig in alongside Stuart these are footballing people with knowledge so hopefully it will see go close, or be there abouts come this time next year.We are certainly looking forward to adding to the squad over the coming weeks'

Craig Himself added:

'I'm really looking forward to season, normally you would want a little break, but the way things have come about, I'm learning more about the club each week. I went and observed the last few games, Luke and Dutts really try to get the boys playing football which is good in my eyes and that’s a massive part of why I want to be here. Also with the work to ground going ahead it looks smart and you can see the club itself is trying to move forward. hopefully we can get a few lads in added to what it is already there, strength in the right areas and we will give it a good go. Looking forward to working with Luke & Dutts, they are real passionate about what they do and in my eyes go about it the right way'

More Details will follow on the restructure of the club management. Kit Man duties are still being advertised as a key role in the club set up.
