Competition: Midland Football League Premier Division
Fixture: Coventry Sphinx v Haughmond
Date: Saturday 17th March
Venue: Sphinx Drive, off Siddeley Avenue, Stoke, Coventry, CV3 1WA
Kick-off: 3pm
PREVIEW: On Saturday Haughmond make the trip from Shrewsbury to take on a Coventry Sphinx side who came back into form last Saturday with a comprehensive 5-1 win at Lye Town.
COVENTRY SPHINX: At the weekend Sphinx returned to form in style with a big away win and now they return to Sphinx Drive for their next league fixture. In their last home fixture they were unfortunate to fall to a 1-0 defeat to Worcester City. Their home record is good with 9 league wins recorded at Sphinx Drive so far this season. Ryan Harkin took his tally to 24 goals with a brace on Saturday but recently the midfield have chipped in with goals with the likes of Liam Cairns, Luke Downes, Charlie Faulkner and Jamie Towers all getting amongst the goals.
THE OPPOSITION: Haughmond are enjoying their first season at this level after winning promotion. They are currently 19th in the league and one place above the relegation zone. They have lost their last three fixtures including a narrow 2-1 defeat at Coleshill most recently. Prior to those three defeats they had won three consecutive league matches against Bromsgrove, Boldmere and Rocester. Their away record is on a par with their home form and they have taken all three points from their visits to Boldmere, Stourport and Rugby Town.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS: The teams met in early August at the Shrewsbury Sports Village and they shared the points in that fixture. Haughmond took a lead into the break after a Parry goal on 40 minutes but Sphinx hit back with a Ryan Harkin goal midway through the second half.
