TOTAL MOTION MFL PREMIER DIVISION - COVENTRY SPHINX v QUORN

The run of home fixtures continue on Saturday with Leicestershire club Quorn the latest to visit Sphinx Drive. Coventry Sphinx have taken full advantage of the run of home fixtures by taking maximum points from the three matches. Wins over South Normanton, Rocester and Shawbury have moved Sphinx into the top 6 of the MFL Premier Division. All of those wins were by a one goal margin and the season’s league record at Sphinx Drive now stands at Won 5, Drew 1 and Lost 2. Sphinx are averaging two goals a game at Sphinx Drive and they will be hoping to continue their good form on Saturday.
Quorn are currently in 19th place and their one away win in the league came at Loughborough University. They did get a creditable point at Haughmond in their last away fixture and also progressed in the FA Vase recently with a 4-3 victory at Bardon Hill. Quorn travelled to second placed Coleshill Town early in October and fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat although they were leading at the interval so plenty to suggest that Quorn will provide difficult opposition.
Last season the two clubs finished level on points and only the superior goal difference of Coventry Sphinx put them above Quorn in the final league table. Sphinx failed to beat Quorn last season with a 1-1 away draw followed by a 3-2 defeat at Sphinx Drive thanks to a Nathan Dale hat-trick. In the 2015/16 season Sphinx achieved a league double over Quorn with a 2-0 win at Sphinx Drive and a memorable 4-3 win at Quorn with Kieran Nesbitt scoring the winner in the 94th minute.
We will be observing a minutes silence prior to kick off in remembrance of former Manager Willie Knibbs who was killed 16 years ago returning from a game in Staffordshire.
This will be the last home fixture until December so make sure you don’t miss this one!
