PREVIEW - WESTFIELDS v COVENTRY SPHINX
COMPETITION: Total Motion Midland Football League Premier Division:
DATE: Thursday 12th April, 7.45pm
MATCH: Westfields v Coventry Sphinx
VENUE: Allpay Park, Widemarsh Common, Grandstand Road, Hereford, HR4 9NA
OFFICIALS: Adrian Hall, Russell Thomas and Brian Nyatanga
Coventry Sphinx will make a 160 mile round trip on Thursday evening for a rearranged fixture against Westfields in Hereford. This is one of our longest away trips of the season and we head to Hereford in 6th place in the Midland Football League Premier Division. Westfields are in 9th place but will go to just one point behind Coventry Sphinx if they can win the game.
THE OPPOSITION:
Westfields were in action as recently as Tuesday night and they returned from Staffordshire with a 4-2 win against bottom club Rocester. That was their first win in four matches after draws against Loughborough University and Rocester and a narrow 1-0 defeat at Worcester City. Prior to that, they had three consecutive wins with impressive results against Rugby Town, Sporting Khalsa and Stourport Swifts. The Westfields home form has been good again this season with 10 wins from their 16 fixtures. They have scored 45 goals in their 16 league fixtures at Allpay Park.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS:
The sides met in late January at Sphinx Drive and Sphinx thought they done enough to win thanks to a Ryan Harkin goal but a 90th minute penalty salvaged a point for Westfields that day.
FACILITIES: There is a small car park providing free parking near the turnstile entrance to the ground. The bar, food and toilet facilities are located immediately to the left of the turnstiles once you are inside the ground. Spectator seating is available at the side of the pitch and there is some covered standing available on the far side of the ground.
