Competition: Midland Football League Premier Division

Fixture: Lye Town v Coventry Sphinx
Date: Saturday 8th December, 2018
Venue: Sports Ground, Stourbridge Road, Lye, Stourbridge, DY9 7DH
Kick-off: 3pm
PREVIEW: Coventry Sphinx are back to league action on Saturday and they travel to the Black Country for a match against Lye Town. Fourth place Sphinx travel on the back of a League Cup penalty shoot out win in midweek. Lye Town also tasted cup success last time out with an extra time home win in the FA Vase so both sides should start the game in confident mood.
COVENTRY SPHINX: Coventry Sphinx have developed a good run of results in recent weeks and just one defeat in eight games has lifted them to 4th place in the MFL Premier Division and advanced them to the Quarter Finals of the League Cup. Their last two league games have produced 9 goals but the key to their season has been an outstanding defensive record.
THE OPPOSITION: Lye Town are in mid-table of the Premier Division. They have had some good results in cup football and last Saturday they advanced to the last 32 of the FA Vase. Their league form has been inconsistent with their away record looking far better than their home record. Just one home win from 7 league fixtures has left them in 14th place. The home win came against Dunkirk. Their home defeats have usually come by one goal margins and they got a solid point at home to Sporting Khalsa recently when they held them to a 0-0 draw.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS: Last season Coventry Sphinx done the double over Lye Town with two big wins. The first meeting came in December with Harkin (2), Guest and Faulkner getting the goals. In March, Sphinx went one better with a 5-1 victory at Lye Town. Goals from Towers, Cairns, Harkin (2) and Faulkner did the damage that day.
FACILITIES: The Sports Ground in Lye has a bar available just before you enter the turnstile and this is where you will also find the toilet facilities. Inside the ground there is good cover behind the goal and a spectator stand with seats alongside the pitch which is where you will find the food and drink provisions.
PARKING: There is very limited parking available at the ground but supporters will find plenty of street parking on the small industrial estate across the road from the ground.
OFFICIALS: Alan Robinson, Allan Salisbury and Kevin Williscroft
