We are delighted to confirm that young striker Ryan Harkin has committed his immediate future to Coventry Sphinx Football Club

We are delighted to confirm that young striker Ryan Harkin has committed his immediate future to Coventry Sphinx Football Club. His goal scoring record has attracted the interest of other clubs but after discussions with his manager Lee Knibbs, Ryan has made the decision to continue with his football career at Coventry Sphinx.
First team manager Lee Knibbs has retained the services of his top goal scorer and commented: “Ryan has been brilliant for Coventry Sphinx and I am pleased that the board have backed me in securing his services until the end of the season. His commitment to improve as a player alongside his consistently high performance levels and goal return has attracted interest from several clubs. However, I am glad Ryan recognises how much we value him and sees Coventry Sphinx as the right place for him to play his football. He is the Sphinx number 9 and is fundamental in my plans to bring success back to Coventry Sphinx.”
Ryan is in his second season at Coventry Sphinx and he has already equalled last season’s goal tally of 22. His total of 44 goals for Coventry Sphinx has come from 71 appearances. Last season was his debut season at this level and he soon established himself with 24 starts and 16 substitute appearances leading to a total of 22 goals. This season he has been first choice striker and his 29 starts and 2 substitute appearances have produced another 22 goals.
Chairman Dannie Cahill was also pleased with the news and said: “Ryan has put in the performances for Coventry Sphinx over the last two seasons and delivered the goods with his goals so it’s clear he’s a player we want to keep at this football club. To retain the services of an in demand striker such as Ryan should demonstrate we are a club with ambition and we will continue to support our manager Lee Knibbs as well as we possibly can.”
Coventry Sphinx are next in action on Saturday with a visit to Shepshed Dynamo scheduled and our next home game is a fixture against Worcester City on Saturday 24th February.
