Pre-season is now in full swing for the First team and the Youth team and this week they both have fixtures at Sphinx Drive.
First up is the first team who welcome higher league Loughborough Dynamo to Coventry Sphinx on Tuesday evening. Two defeats in the first two friendlies for the first team but the line ups were a real mixed bag of first teamers and players on trial. The third and most recent game ended in a 4-1 win against Long Buckby with McGarrity and Harkin grabbing two goals apiece. The team had a more familiar look and showed with the result although the score line didn’t reflect what a tough game it was. Whatever the results during pre-season, goals have been flying in and the standard of opposition steps up a notch with Loughborough Dynamo playing in the league above this season. Admission will be just £3 for adults (No concessions) and Under 16’s will be admitted FREE.
Thursday night sees Dave Bulls Under 18’s Youth team take to the Sphinx Drive main pitch for the first time and if their performance on Sunday is anything to go by then an entertaining match is ahead of us. Sporting Khalsa Under 18’s provide the opposition for this friendly fixture and admission is FREE. The Youth team are a new team that combines some of last season’s Coventry Sphinx Under 16 team with new recruits that came to us from all areas of the City after our trials days. Come along and support them!
