We are pleased to announce the details of the Coventry Sphinx Under 18's Youth Team trials. We are looking to recruit players who want to start their non-league journey with a club with a fantastic history of developing young talent. Are you looking for a local team who play in the highly competitive Midland Floodlit Youth League against many of the largest non-league clubs across the region? We have been successful in this league before as winners and in the same season took the County cup.
When are the trials?
We will be holding two sessions and we will be asking interested players to attend them both. They will be held on:
Saturday 24th June AND Saturday 1st July. Both sessions will start at 10am and continue until at least 1pm.
What should I bring?
You will need to bring your football boots and training kit as it will be a physical session with drills, and games. Our Youth Team management team will be observing you alongside our First Team management team who are looking for future prospects.
Do I need to book a place?
Please email Youth Team Secretary Sharon Taylor at email@example.com
with your Name, Previous Clubs/Academies, your preferred position, Date of Birth and Contact phone number.
Sharon will confirm receipt and we'll see you for the first session.
What happens if I'm successful?
If after the second session you have been successful and we wish to sign you you'll be asked to provide ID and sign a registration form. You'll be given further information about training sessions and the league fixtures at this time.
Youth team games will be played on midweek evenings in addition to training sessions during the week. Home games will be played on a Thursday night on the main floodlit pitch at our Sphinx Drive home. Away games will be at clubs throughout the Midlands on evenings to be confirmed.
We now have 21 Junior teams representing Coventry Sphinx from Under 7’s to Under 16’s with all age groups covered and we are now in an ideal position to implement an Under 18’s Youth team. The manager has already been appointed with current Under 16’s manager Dave Bull agreeing to take the position. Our intention is for the Youth team to provide a bridge from Junior football to our First team who compete in the Midland Football League Premier Division at step 5 of the National Non-League pyramid, the FA Cup and FA Vase.
We look forward to joining you on your Sphinx journey.
