Stags come to burgess
quins and stags defend well
Cowling Harlequins 0 Mirfield Stags A 4
Cowling welcomed the stags to a very muddy burgess fields and defended like lions for 71 minutes until a serious injury to one of the stags players resulted in the game being stopped.
The stags bringing a huge pack ran hard and strong at the harlequins but big tackles from Daniel Spencer and Anthony Packer put the big runners off there game and this lifted the cowlings defense holding tight unlike the last couple of matches where the quins stand back and let the game come to them the quins with a full squad took the game to the stags and went close until Craig Nicholson lost the ball in the tackle near the stags line.
Nicky smith and Daz Plamer ran well for the quins so did prop Brian Vincent this got cowling close again and Daz Greenwood chip and chase found facko narey but the stags full back covered well.
Mirfield did cross the line on the 20th minute when there prop powered over conversion missed and that was it for points as both team showed great defense and good work from Josh Jolley and Nathan Parkin tackled well near the quins line and as the stag throw a lose pass it was collected by greenwood to go 80 meters but chased down by stags full back but good support from ash wood and ali feather got greenwood up fast and went close to the line.
This games builds cowling up nicely for the local derby next week away to silsden and cowling would like to send our thoughts to the stags player hoping he recovers well.
