Harlech take the points
Harlech 5.2 Aberffraw
Berffro travelled to Harlech full of confidence with three wins from three and nearly a full squad available but could never have imagined how badly the day could turn out.
The travel down was a nightmare as we hit traffic after traffic which meant we arrived at 2.05 with a 2.30 kick off. Berffro were quick out of the traps and created good openings from corners in the early stages only a point blank save by Harlech keeper who impressed all afternoon kept the score at 0.0. Credit to Harlech they played to counter and did this well, they took their first opportunity after some sloppy defending by Berffro meant it was 1.0. Soon after and another counter and Berffro found themselves 2.0 down as a deflected shot gave Kenny in goal no chance. It was time to roll up the sleeves and Berffro did just that and again started to create good opportunities but excellent defnecing kept Berffro at Bay. On the stroke of half time Berffro conceded the 3rd goal as a chip from the edge of the box found the net. Berffro had a golden opportunity again before half time only for the keeper again to be the final barrier. 3.0 at half time.
A change of formation and personel at half time and the lads went out for the win. We had the perfect start as in form Richard Roberts scored from close range, this came after a stonewall penalty had been turned away, everyone could see it was a penalty except for the man in the middle A second came early in the second half as Adam on as a sub produced an excellent through ball and Bolton did well to finish with a clever dink, 3.2 game on. Andrew on as a sub was threatening down the right and had an excellent chance to make it 3.3, the ball bounced just wide of the post. On 65 min the game was delayed for a few minutes as Kenny was injured in a nasty head clash from a corner. The game did eventually continue and on 70 minutes the game changed its course as the ball came into the box Berffro dealt with it and ball was cleared, however the Harlech striker caught Kenny late and raised his hand, Kenny reacted by raising his arm to push the player away. The ref had no hesitation but to show the red card to Kenny and award a penalty, a very harsh decision. Harlech scored from the spot to make it 4.2, they pushed on and got a 5th a few minutes from time. Final score Harlech 5.2.
Take nothing away from Harlech they had a game plan and took advantage of an under performing Berffro side.
We now have to dust ourselves down as we have a huge local derby at home to Bodedern on Tuesday.
