Rampant Berffro hit 11 past Bethesda
Double Hatrick for Andrew, Birthday Hatrick for Connor
On Saturday we travelled to Bethesda keen to keep up our recent form with another 3 points. The Gwynedd League newcomers have found it tough so far this season but we went into the game with some caution and focused on the task ahead of us.
On a really heavy pitch, not helped by the overnight rain, we made a bright start and dominated early proceedings with the midfield 4 of Billy, Harper, Connor and Earnshaw all getting good early touches on the ball. The pitch looked better down the flanks and it was these from these areas we looked most dangerous early on. Our dominance from the off resulted in the opening goal with only 10 or so minutes on the clock when Earnie played a ball down the left, Adam skipped passed his marker and cut a ball back for strike partner Andrew who scooped in with his left foot. 5 minutes later Andrew had his and our second as he latched onto a perfect through ball from Connor, rounded the keeper and slotted into the empty net. The pressure continued as we looked to take the game away from the home side, Billy let fly from some 30 yards out only for his shot to smash off the crossbar and then after good link up play down the right between Harper and Ieu, Connor's stretching effort at the far post from Ieu's cross also came back off the upright. For a 5-10 minute period after this we eased off and became a bit sloppy in our play, allowing the home side to build some momentum and if not for a great one on one save from Gav, Bethesda could have found a way back into the game. The save from Gav seemed to spark us back into life as we completely blew away the home side in a ten minute spell before half time and played some lovely football at times. The third goal started with Harper heading down to Connor in midfield, his first time pass into Adam was then laid off to Billy who only need one touch to play a ball perfectly into the path of Connor who had continued his forward run and finished clinically into the bottom corner. Ieu Lloyd was bombing on down the right at every opportunity and causing the opposite full back no end of problems and the next two goals were created from down his side. The fourth was Connors second, Harper took a quick throw and Ieu beat two men before delivering a peach of a cross which found Con unmarked at the far post and his header gave the keeper no chance and then another piece of good play from Ieu resulted in a penalty, which Connor duly stepped up to calmly send the keeper the wrong way and bag a first half hatrick on his birthday. 0-5 half time.
With the points almost certainly in the bag, we were keen not to take our foot off the gas in the second half and sensed more goals and less than 5 minutes after the restart we had a sixth with Andrew completing his well earned hatrick. Al Llan was sharp into a tackle midway in our own half and played a pass inside to Jenks, he spotted Andrews run and played a long pass from the back which he took in his stride, sped away from the defender and dispatched well into the far bottom corner. It was 7-0 not long after, Harper and Ieu played a one two down the right, Harpers cross was low across the six yard box with the keeper spilling it Andrew was quickest to the loose ball and poked in. To their credit the home side never stopped and their efforts were rewarded when they were given a penalty, their number 7 stepped up and Gav made a tremendous save down low to his right, unfortunately though the loose ball fell to their penalty taker who slotted home the rebound. Desite being disappointed with conceding we continued with the pressure and the chances kept coming. Harper and Andrew linked well allowing Andrew to square a ball and lay it on a plate for Adam, he took a touch to settle himself but blazed over and then Jenks went close from a Gaz a Wyn corner but the Bethesda defenders managed to get bodies in the way. It was soon 8 as Andrew returned the favour to Connor for an earlier assist as Connor got his fourth of the game with another good strike before Andrew made it 9. Billy did well in midfield to win possession and then pick his head up to find Andrew in acres of space on the right hand side of the box and his shot across the face of goal nestled into the far corner as he notched his 5th of the day. Chivz, Kieran and Karl were brought off the bench and all were involved in the play straight away. Chivz played some nice passes in midfield leading to a great chance for Kieran who just dragged his shot wide from 8 yards out and then Karl got his first goal for the club. Billy again produced a great pass over the top from midfield, Karl took a touch and then from the edge or the box, curled his effort away from the keeper and into the top corner to make it double figures. The final goal of the day involved both players who had hit hatricks as the birthday boy found Andrew again whose 6th goal was a carbon copy of a couple of his other strikes as he blasted his effort across the keeper with the ball firing into the bottom far corner as he claimed an astonishing double hatrick. Full time 1-11.
A great win and surely up there with one of the biggest wins in the clubs recent history. Some of our play, on such a difficult pitch, was very impressive as we kept possession well and didn't try forcing the issue and kept patient. The back four kept focused despite not having too much to do at times, Al Llan looked comfortable coming back in at left back and Ieu continued his recent fine form with another impressive display. Once again Gav deserves a mention, his save at 2-0 was superb and crucial to how the game then panned out and he deserved a clean sheet after saving the penalty but it wasn't to be. Stealing the headline though will be Connor and Andrew, Connor for his hatrick and two assist and then Andrew who kept up his hot streak in front of goal with 6 in one game, a fantastic feat. We go again on Saturday, at home to Talysarn as we look to continue on our run with another 3 points
