Berffro run out convincing 4-0 winners
Berffro hammer Bro
Following on from Wednesday nights big win at home to Waun, there was no time to rest as another vital 3 points were on offer as Bro Goronwy visited Cae Cynlas. The Moelfre based side have had their successes twice already against us this season, but yesterday was to be no repeat as they came up against a determined Berffro side who were up for it right from the word go.
With just over a minute on the clock we almost took the lead, Gaz Wyn delivering a peach of a cross from deep where Richie did well to meet it at the far post only to be denied by a great save from the Bro glovesman. The early chance set the tempo for the first quarter of the match as Berffro were right at it and Bro struggled to cope with the pressure and tempo. The opener came after 7 minutes, the visitors had not heeded the warning of the early chance, and were caught out by a superb deep cross from Billy which found Gary Bolton who rose tremendously and his bullet header flew into the top corner. The pressure continued, a Harper corner was only partially cleared to the edge of the area where Gaz Wyn met it with a sweet left foot strike only for it to come back off post. The visitors struggled to gain any sort of foothold in the match and when any balls crosses into our half, Jenks and Iwan were once again in imperious form and gave little away to their opponents. We didn't have to wait long for a deserved second and 2 quickly became 3 as we took the game away from Bro. In almost a carbon copy of his goal on Wednesday night, Connor got our second as he met a long free kick from Jenks on the volley and guided his effort into the bottom corner and was then involved in the build up for our third. minutes after putting us 2 up, he won possession with a strong tackle in midfield and drove forward passed two players, he then found Harper in space who moved the ball quickly into the feet of Rich, he took a touch, cut in from the right and unleashed an unstoppable left foot strike which flew into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. Bro were stunned and all they had to show for the first half was a series of corners in succession which were dealt with really well at the near post by Rich. 3-0 half time.
Again the message at half time was to not rest on our laurels and think the game was over. The wind was now in Bro's favour but the expected fight back never materialised as they struggled to create anything, much down to our dominance as we continued to work hard and deny the visitors any space in midfield and when they then bypassed midfield, they came up against a resolute back four who were determined to hold on for a clean sheet. Ieu Lloyd found more space in the second half to bomb forward and delivered a few testing crosses, and down the left Billy was solid throughout and stuck to his task, giving absolutely nothing to his frustrated opponent. Just passed the hour mark we had a deserved 4th and killed the game completely, Harpers corner found Jenks at the near post, the ball then falling kindly for Matty Reynolds who struck low through a ruck of bodies to put the game way beyond reach. Just like we had done on Wednesday night, the rest of the match was managed out well with Connor and Wally continuing to have the upper hand in the midfield battle, winning countless headers and tackles to deny and frustrate the Bro midfield 2. We almost had a fifth when Connors strike from the edge of the area was spilt by the Bro keeper but Rich on the rebound was adjudged to have been offside. Full time 4-0, Ieu Lloyd Man of the Match
A superb display from 1 through to 11 and the subs that came on. To keep a clean sheet against a side who have put ten past us in two previous games is no mean feat but the manner in which we denied them any sort of chances was really impressive, Gav had no save to make whatsoever. We now move onto an equally important game on Tuesday night, another Anglesey Derby as Menai Bridge travel to Cae Cynlas
