First Point at Home this Season
As we draw a blank against Llannefydd
After postponements in the last couple of weeks due to the weather, Today (24/02) we welcomed CPD Llannefydd to Tan Parc in the league. Regarding squad wise, we had no few than 7 missing due to work and family commitments.
First half began with Llan on the front foot, passing the ball well in midfield and spreading the ball well to wide areas trying to get the pace of Mark Jones into the game quite early to try and unsettle their back line. We did create a few half chances - notably Matthew O’ Hara was at the end of few of them but just couldn’t find the net or the visiting team goalkeeper was hard to beat and made some good saves. At the other end Pete Finn made some fine stops himself, with their No 10 creating some fine shots himself but Pete was equal to them all fair play.
Half Time - Llan 0 - 0 Llannefydd
Half Time substitution was made by the Home team as Jerome came off and Iwan came on instead of him.
Second Half began with the home team again trying to force the issue with the first chance falling to Matty but he just couldn’t get the ball out of his feet and with the Away team keeper coming out to close the angle, the ball trickled out for a goal kick. At the other end, the Away team were creating their own chances as well, notably the best one when Pete made an excellent one handed save down to his left hand side to foil their striker. Back at the other end, chances kept coming for Llan with Iwan, Matty, Mark and Tudur all testing the keeper but couldn’t find a way to pass him. A couple of substitutions were made by Llan as Luke Roberts came on for his first competitive game since injuring his knee in pre season, but unfortunately that didn’t last long as he went for a tackle and felt his knee going again so he had to be replaced by Cai Grieves. Both teams went all out to try and snatch the winner but couldn’t find it and eventually had to settle for the point.
Final Score - Llan 0 - 0 Llannefydd
Overall, we created a host of chances, but just couldn’t find the the killer touch and the back of the net. But a very good performance by everyone with a bare minimum squad has to be said against a team that knocked Llangefni Town in the cup last week. But on the balance of the game, a draw was a fair result for both teams.
Man of the Match - Geraint Siddall
It was good to see Luke Roberts back playing competitive football again for the first time this season, but that was short lived as he pulled up going for a tackle and had to come off two minutes after coming on which was a real shame. We wish Luke a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on that pitch very soon as we have sorely missed him this season.
Next Week (03/03/18), we are Away in Penmaenmawr Phoenix in league action with a 2:30pm Kick Off.
