Bad Day at the Office
As we get thumped by Meliden on our own patch
Today (07/04/18), we hosted Meliden at Tan Parc in the hope of getting our first win in Tan Parc this season, but it was to be the complete opposite.
First Half began pretty even for the first 10 minutes but from there on we hit the self destruct button and gave silly goals and silly and costly errors proved vital as Meliden romped to a 4-0 Half Time score - no more needed to be said, it was truly a disappointing half by the lads.
At Half Time - there was a few harsh words delivered to the players by Meirion Grieves about the display in the first half as it was the worst first half we have seen in Tan Parc in over 2 seasons by a mile. So the message was in the second half to show more heart, fight and try and play better football than we did in the first half. Steffan Lewis was replaced with Cai Ab Arfon at the interval as well.
Second Half began with Llan on the front foot after that rollicking half time, we where definitely seeing signs of that fight and heart. Creating some decent chances on goal that we didn’t see at all in the first half at all. Couple more substitutions were made as Iwan and Nick came on to replace Jerome and Callum with Mark being shifted to partner Iwan up front. It almost paid dividends as Mark hit the woodwork and Iwan forcing the Meliden Keeper to make a couple of fine stops. But it was short lived as Meliden went up the other end and were awarded a penalty, which was coolly slotted by their No 7. 5 was then 6 in a matter of a couple of minutes as Llan poured bodies forward and left gaps in the back in which their No 7 again latched onto the ball, turning inside his man and launching a great shot to the top corner with Pete Finn having no chance.
Final score:- Llan 0 - 6 Meliden
Overall, The First Half cost us dearly. Too many mistakes, too naive at times and failing to play as a team as well. Second Half was a lot better as we created a bit more and showed a bit more fight and spirit but the damage was done. It’s up to all the players to pick themselves up from this as we have 5 massive games left, starting with next week and a tricky and difficult away game vs Penmaenmawr Phoenix with a 2:30pm Kick Off.
Man of the Match:- Aled Jones
