Disappointing End to the Season
As we go down 5-3 to Mochdre Sports in a highly entertaining match
Yesterday (15/05/18), we entertained Mochdre Sports in our final match of the season on Bangor City's 4G Pitch. 3 changes were made to the team that lost to Amlwch last time out, Cai Ab Arfon went in goal to replace the injured Pete Finn, Rich came in for the injured Matty O' Hara and in came Nick to the team as well.
First Half began pretty even, with both sides trying to get to grips the surface. We had a few half chances with Mark and Nick having a pop from outside the box which were on target but comfortable for the opposing keeper. On the half hour mark, Llan took the lead through Rich Jones, a ball came in from the right hand side from Geth Nelson which the keeper couldn't handle it with the wind, the ball dropped to Rich and with an open goal finished it coolly to make it 1-0. But disaster struck before half time when Mochdre responded with two goals for themselves. The first one was when Cai in the goal cleared the ball upfield but he could only find the feet of Jordan Phillips who duly obliged to hit the ball first time to an open net to equalise and then a couple of minutes after from a Llan corner, Mochdre broke quickly and the ball found it's way to Scott Roberts who chipped Cai in the goal from outside the box to give Mochdre a 2-1 lead going into Half Time.
Half Time - Llan 1 - 2 Mochdre
Second Half began with Llan forced into a change with Rich coming off due to an injury to be replaced by Jerome. With the rain and wind beginning to impact the game. Llan started off the second half on the front foot and nearly equalised 10 minutes in but Iwan's turn and shot hit the post. But the equaliser did come 10 minutes after, corner came in from the left hand side and there to meet it was Geth Llwydiarth to tuck it in and make it 2-2. Llan were on the charge now and soon took the lead when Jerome latched on to a through ball and coolly slotted the ball past the onrushing keeper to make it 3-2 to Llan. With victory seemingly in our grasp, Mochdre equalised again through Jordan Phillips when he met a corner from the right hand side and headed the ball in giving Cai in the goal no chance. With both teams going for the win now, it was Mochdre who took the lead again, a carbon copy of their third goal and again it was Jordan Phillips the man to finish it off. 4 then became 5 for Mochdre as Llan pushed bodies up to try and find the equaliser but were caught on the break and Scott Roberts duly obliged to slot the ball past the onrushing Cai in goal to make it 5-3.
Final Score - Llan 3 - 5 Mochdre
All in all it was harsh on the lads, a good and spirited performance to finish the season off, but mistakes and lapses of concentration in key areas and moments have cost us the game, but credit to the lads they never gave up and kept fighting until the very end.
Man of the Match - Tudur Williams
Well another season goes by. No doubt it has been another tough season for us again with results not going our way. But can I take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone involved with the club - Players, Staff, Committee, Canteen Ladies and the Supporters as well, without your dedication and commitment throughout the season - there wouldn't be a team and a club in this village so a big thank you to you all and we hope to see you all again to support this club next season - Thank You
