Revenge was so sweet for Pwllheli at Eithin Duon, as United had knocked them out of the Welsh Cup ten days earlier, with a 3-1 win at Pwllheli.

The visitors dominated the early exchanges and Ben Chippendale’s seventh minute throw in from the right was headed goal wards by Euron Roberts, however United goalkeeper Dave Ball was equal to it with a smart save.

Pwllheli’s persistence however paid off in the twenty first minute, another Chippendale throw was volleyed low into the back of United's net by James Evans from twelve yards.

United found it difficult to get any rhythm going, their only threat coming from Mathew Phillips wide on the left.

Things got worse for United four minutes before the interval, visitors James Evans turned provider with a neat ball inside following a run down the right, and the ever sharp Danny Rylance did the rest doubling his side's advantage with a crisp low shot from the corner of the six yard box beyond the despairing dive of United keeper Dave Ball.

Early in the second period United worked hard to get a foothold in the match, limiting Pwllheli to counter attacks. On hour mark United striker Gareth Edwards shot just over Andrew Parry’s bar and then United substitute Gethin Phillips did likewise.

Pwllheli’s rearguard held firm throughout and were well marshalled by central defenders Euron Roberts and Martyn Smith.

A very disappointing result for United, who must now pick themselves up for the visit of Glan Conwy to Eithin Duon this coming Saturday.
