History
Groeslon Football Club was established during the summer of 2008. At this present time the club does not have a football pitch in the village, therefore we have entered the North Gwynedd and Anglesey Sunday League, and our home ground is the all-weather pitch at Plas Silyn Leisure Centre, Penygroes.
Why was the club formed?
Discussions arose between friends regarding the possibility of starting a football club in the village. The general feeling amongst the lads that they would rather pull on the jersey of their home village rather than any other team in the area. After appointing the club's officials and management team, it was confirmed that Y Groeslon FC would be one of eight new teams entering the North Gwynedd and Anglesey Sunday League for that season.
On the 17th of August 2008, Y Groeslon FC had their first official outing away against The Eagles of Caernarfon. Aaron Hughes scored the club's first competitive goal as the team won 8-0.
