Cramond Bounce Back
We had to pick ourselves up from last weeks game and we done just that. Last week knocked our confidence and it was always going to be abit of a nervy affair whoever we played. A couple of changes to the starting line up gave the chance for some lads to proove themselves. The game started and the tempo was high. Danny and Kev were working well upfront and the full backs were seeing plenty of the ball. Danny had a decent effort from just outside the box but pulled his shot about a yard past the post. Ryan was causing problems down the right getting to the byline and winning corners or crossing the ball into the box. The West Lothian defence were struggling to cope with this and couldn't seem to clear the ball. If they did manage to clear the ball our back line was mopping up well and getting the ball to John and Kyle. Beattie looked in the mood today he rarely lost the ball and saw his goal bound shot blocked by a last ditch tackle on 15 mins. We opened the scoring straight after. Danny controlled the ball around the half way line and rolled his marker. He then played a delightful chip over the defence for Kevin Walker to run onto. His pace got him through 1 on 1 and he lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box who tried to rush out and stop him. We continued to chip away at their defence and with luck not our side we couldn't get the 2nd goal. West Lothian always seemed to get a body in the way. Stevie was back in the side over on the left and his tricky feet were also an issue for Lothian. He cut in from the left and play opened up for him to shoot. His shot from the angle wasn't to far away. 1-0 HT.
I felt if we kept playing the way we were, we would surely grab the important 2nd goal and go on to kill them off. We started to really boss the game, Beattie and Aitken were winning the battle in the centre even with them playing 3 in there. We should have went further ahead on 55 mins. Kev used his pace once again to get clear of their backline. He shot at goal but the keeper could only parry to the feet of Ryan who could'nt direct his shot goal bound and missed the target from 8 yards out. Kev tried to turn provider again this time from the left hand side. His cross was just to close to the keeper who got a touch on the ball. The ball was loose and Danny was in there for the rebound, but the keeper reacted quickly to smother the ball. West Lothian were offering little in attack and it was 1 way traffic for most of the 2nd half. Muz had a chance through a corner. His downward header bounce up of the surface and hit the bar. Shortly after that we hit the woodwork again. Some nice build up play and Danny laying the ball off to Beattie on the edge. His rasping shot had the keeper rooted hut the square posts denied him a spectacular goal. As time went on though it was still only 1 -0 and you could sense Lothian would get a chance to equalise. A high ball up the park caught out Coote and John and the LM was in on goal. He opted to chip the advancing Greg, but the ball didn't come down quick enough for him and went over the bar. Lothian took some confidence from this and put us under some pressure from corners. However this was to be their downfall and we broke up the park. Beattie was 1 on 1 with his marker, he knocked the ball past him but the lad took Beattie down inside the box and the ref awarded the penalty. Beattie picked himself up and placed the ball on the spot which he calmly slotted home to the keepers left. Game was finally beyond the reach of West Lothian. Good to see us bounce back and pull together. A well deserved victory which shows last weeks game was just a blip. 2-0 FT.
