Before tonights training, Tim gave us a quick update on how pre-season is going

'It's been a whirlwind few weeks, putting together a completely new squad, getting fit and attacking the first two friendlies of our pre season campaign. We have managed to secure a host of exciting signings including some very experienced players in the form of Ben Burns, Sam Cane, Tom Saunders, Mo Shugg'a and Scott Johnston along with some of the most talented youngsters in the area. Averaging 20 players at each training session the players have been put through their paces with boot-camps, training sessions and games.

Our first friendly, coming only three weeks after putting the squad together, saw us put in a really strong display. A strong Eastbourne Borough Side who play in the Skrill Conference, visited the Havens and gave a really good test to the attitude and work-rate of the squad. They left with a 1-0 win but what was great to see was the willingness and discipline of the squad to work together. The squad has a team spirit already that is evident to see and normally takes years to put together.

Four days later we welcomed Little Common to the Havens who offered a different challenge. The final score was 2-2 and based on the great performance from both sides this was a fair result. There were a couple of standout performances that are worth a special mention, firstly from Josh Alcock who netted twice and also from young George Wallis, who is part of our Ryman Under 18 squad, showing that the Anvils have a bright future at all levels of the club.

Once again I urge all of the local community to continue to get behind their local side. It was great to see so many home fans against Eastbourne, with a gate of 113, so I would like to end by saying a huge thank you to all of the 'Fanvils' that have come out to support so far and hope to see many more of you in the future'

Don't forget Anvils next pre-season game is at the Haven, as we welcome Ifield, 3pm kick off this saturday (26th)
