Crawley 2's 3 - 0 Southwick 2's

And the taaaan go marching on...

Crawley 2's yet again rang the changes for the utterly inconvenient 1400hrs away push back vs bottom of the league southwick.

Karl bass, luke miles, matty park and hammad [insert generic brown name here] all stepped in for this guaranteed 3 pointer. The twos were missing theo 'explosive power' hillman who got the call from the 1's and sold us out instantly. Scottish tom (absent without leave) and midfield maestro alex coote (family business) were also missing this potential goal fest.

With the squad arriving in bits and pieces only minutes before the start, the usually organised pre match warm up pretty much went to shit. After rockers quick whizz in to the wind, some wide shots on goal and some capsimax, crawley were finally ready to play some hockey.

Crawley found themselves all at sea (quite fitting for a fixture in sunny portslade) in a first half that offered some golden opportunities to score but they just could not find a breakthrough. Crawley continued to search for a goal, battling against their own ability to find that final ball as well as a pitch that was about as flat as an indian highway. A strong chance heading for the Southwick goal from the stick of one thomas jarvis was expertly diverted on to the post by james 'i score the goals not you' fuller. After some unlucky short corners and kane showing respect for the pitch by not standing on it, luke miles rolled in a shorty straight down the middle of the goal, majestic.

With the score only at one nil, crawley needed to pick themselves up and make sure of the win. The half started with a comedy of errors from priyesh 'skills to pay the bills' patel but crawley were soon camped in the southwick half. The second goal came after much fannying about in the southwick D with the ball finally finding jarvis then fuller for the finish, never have so many given so much to achieve so little. Nevertheless with crawley two goals up the aim was to make sure of three points. Southwick countered well only to be met with a defence led by ian 'the rock' berry making some vital challenges.

Victory was finally secured with an amazingly effortless aerial from karl bass which made its way from the crawley D to the ever willing James Fuller bearing down on the southwick goal. After an unexpectedly heavy touch (reminiscent of his LAPD Training days) around the keeper jimbo managed to squeeze home the finish to make it 3.

At the final whistle a jubilant crawley celebrated a harder than expected victory with part time goalkeeper and full time umpiring coach Chris Rockingham celebrating a first clean sheet of the season.
