Cray Wanderers part company with manager
By Richard Bowdery
Cray Wanderers announced today (16 September) that manager Keith Bird has left the club by mutual consent.
His departure follows a string of poor results that have left the Wands languishing at the foot of the Ryman League Division One North.
Club chairman Gary Hillman said "The club would like to thank Keith for all his hard work and effort over the last year and wish him all the best for the future."
The chairman was quick to plug the gap left by Keith's departure, by making assistant manager Mike Paye and coach Gary Abbott joint caretaker managers.
Gary Abbott, a former Cray Wanderers forward, is a well-known and well respected name in non-league circles and it is hoped he and Mike can return the club to winning ways.
Their first game in charge is this Saturday away to Needham Market, current leaders of the division.
