Update from Manager Keith Bird

All over Christmas, New Year and the first week of January we have been busy strengthening the squad.

First of all I want to update you on players we have parted company with.

The loans from Leyton Orient of Charlie Grainger, Jack Sharrat and Elyon Marshall - Katung have all now come to an end. The ending of Charlie Grainger's loan came very unexpectedly when he was recalled on Christmas Eve due to Leyton Orients First Team keeper being injured. This really hurt, leaving us without a recognised keeper over the Christmas and New Year period but I am delighted to announce the signing of a very experienced keeper later in this update.

We have also parted company with Tommy Whitnell, Danny Young, Jason Henry & Manny Williams.

Dan Hughes has gone on long term loan/ dual signing with Holmesdale FC in the Kent Premier League.

Finally, Anthony Bardon has been given a chance to stake a claim in the newly formed Gibraltar International squad as they prepare for the European Championship qualifiers so Anthony will spend the remainder of the season in Gibraltar.

Charlie, Jack, Elyon, Tommy, Danny, Jason, Manny, Dan & Anthony have all been a pleasure to work with and are all great players. We wish them all the very best in their future playing careers.

Announcing 8 new signings

In addition to the new signings that were mentioned in my last update, I am delighted that we can now announce the following new signings that have taken place over the last couple of weeks.

Darren Behcet, aged 27 (Goalkeeper), West Ham, Yeovil Town, Cambridge United, Dorchester Town, AFC Hornchurch, Tooting and Mitcham, Harlow Town (previous club).

Despite clubs higher up our division coming in for Darren and Harlow Town working hard to keep him we are delighted that Darren has decided to join us as our No. 1 and that he has really bought into our long term plan and big picture.

Jide Maduako, aged 19 (Center Back), Arsenal youth player and most recently a Pro at Ipswich.

Steve Smith, aged 19 (Center Back, Left Back, Center Midefield), Arsenal, Leicester, Bromley, & Hayes & Yeading. Steve had a loan spell with us while he was under contract at Bromley. At the end of his loan with us Steve transferred from Bromley to Hayes & Yeading but we are delighted that Steve has decided to sign for Cray Wanderers as part of our permanent squad now.

Jordan Bird, aged 20 (Left Midfield, Left Back), Sutton United (Youth) & Met Police

The surname may seem familiar and that's because Jordan is my nephew but that is not the reason we have signed him. A number of pro clubs have shown an interest in him in the past and Bromley tried to sign him twice last year. Quality left sided player who Mike and I have been trying to sign for some time.

Morgan Ferrier, aged 19 (Center Forward), Arsenal (Youth), Pro at Nottinham Forest and then West Bromwich Albion bought him. Currently out of contract so we have snapped him up.

Paul Vines, aged 30 (Center Forward), Tooting & Mitcham, Bromley, Kingstonian, Carshalton Athletic, Dulwich Hamlett, Margate.

Ex Cray Wanderers player now re-signed. Very experienced.

Joshua Oyinsan, aged 19 (Center Forward), AFC Wimbledon (Youth), Barnet (Youth), Nike Academy, and most recently Bromley.

Aaron Rhule, 19 (Left Midfield, Center Forward), Bromley and most recently Merstham. Another exciting talent coming into his prime years that like some of the others has had interest from Pro Clubs.

As you can see a lot of hard work, time and discussions have been going on in the background with some players going out and new players coming in.

The sqaud is now much more stronger and competitive. Currently there are no loan players on the squad and there is now real competition for all places in the team. We believe we are building a solid squad that is not only united in the battle to beat relegation but also building for the future years.

The players profiles on the website will be updated soon.

Thank you for your support. It is very much appreciated.

All the best,

Keith
