Sunday saw the first team win their third consecutive game as they dispatched Preston North End Ladies in a 4-2 win. The game saw the ladies set up with a back four consisting of 3 Development squad players due to injuries and abscence of Katie Nuttall, Kerry Green and Lorna Taffee. They were replaced with the impressive Kate Evans, Vikki Owen and Kirsty Stafford. The team controlled most of the play in the first half and, kept the North End attackers at bay with Kara Townsend hardly tested. The game was 0-0 however at half time as the Alex failed to find the net. First team rgular Michelle Saunders was also on the inury list and Megan Booth Amanda Fallon and Laura Goom spearheaded the attacking line. The first goal of the game came from a wonderful pass from Beth Ragdale and Megan Booth slotted past the oncoming striker. The second came around 5 minutes later when Amanda Fallon latcehed onto the end of a loose ball and poked passed the Preston goalkeeper. Goal of the day however came from Leanne Derry as she took an oppurtunity to shoot from distance and a low driven shot sailed into the back of the net. Preston pulled two backhowever due to a lack of concentration from the Alex defensive line but the game was put to bed by Man of the Match Megan Booth as she claimed her brace. The Alex ladies have now won the last three games of 2015 having beaten Northwich and Blackpool Girls and Women, next weekend they will take on Blackburn community who last played in the league in Novemeber! The Alex have already beaten the top 3 side and will be looking to gain the three points again to out pressure on top of the table Blackpool Wren Rovers.
