First Team assistant manager Tony Heron gives us his thoughts following the fantastic win against Guiseley Vixens yesterday

“Sunday was by far the best result of the season to date and we were all proud of what the team achieved. The players built on last week’s County Cup Semi Final performance to turn in a display that was simply awesome”.

“Guiseley are a top quality side who were previously unbeaten in the league and came to the Cumberland Arena boasting a 100% away record, so we knew we would need to be at our very best if we were going to challenge for the 3 points on offer, and we were at our best all over the pitch!”.

“The Management Team of Nick, Sara and myself have great faith in our players, we know that they have the talent and the heart to be at this level and now as a result of the hard work put in on the training pitch the team is starting to show great improvement in their organisational and positional discipline and this was the key factor for us in getting the win”.

“We had a game plan and the players carried it out almost to the letter. The resilience that they showed in the second half demonstrated a real mental toughness. They were absolutely done in at the final whistle but they know that if they put the effort in they will get the rewards”.

“We are still down there scrapping away but we have momentum and importantly our fate is in our own hands. Yesterday we set the bar that bit higher and if we can maintain that level of performance in our two remaining league fixtures we will get ourselves over the line”.
