Crewe Alex ladies failed to break Chorleys 100% win record in the leagueo dispite a spirited display which saw the Alex take an early lead through a well worked goal on the left from Laura Goom, Leanne Derry building the attack from the defensive third and combining well with Michelle Hadnum and Goom to convert and shoot high above the keeper from inside the box. Chorley responded strodngly winning the aerial midfield battles in the centre midfield are as and keeping Crewe on the defenisve for long periods of the first half, Emily Riley responding with some good saves, Chorley got a goal back as their forward broke free of the defensive and rounded the keeper to make it 1-1. Crewe came out the second half and were able to comspete acrross the field with Chorley who were physically competitive and all so very confrontational. As the half progressed though Chorley were creating more and more chances and keeper Riley was forced to deal with a barrage of crosses from the wide areas, the final goal of the game came from a cross from the right hand side where a lack of communication between the Alex defence and the goalkeeper to a loose ball allowed the Chorley attack to punce on and convert with less than 3 minutes to go. The girls put a real shift in today against a strong organised side who have developed a winning mentality and have some good players who punish teams for the smallest of mistakes, I was really pround of the girls today and belive that they can begin to find some form in the next few weeks
