Lyke Wake Walk - DONE!!

Lyke Wake Walk - DONE!! image

42 Miles in less than 24 hours, blisters, cuts, aches and pain! All worth it though as the club raised over 4.5k for MacMillan and the club.

A team of walkers, team support and medics set off from the Boot and Shoe in Nantwich to travel to Ravenscar on the North East coast to begin a 42 mile walk across the North Yorkshire Moors, finishing in Osmotherley.

The idea was to raise money for MacMillan and the club development fund.

It was tough going, in fact most of the walkers said it was the toughest challenge so far, including the coast to coast cycle and the 3 Peaks Challenge.

The course is across rough terrain in the picturesque North Yorkshire Moors. This included, hills, valleys, roads, tracks and bogs! To complete the trek in less than 24 hours the walkers had to be kept going by a team of helpers who supplied food and drink, moral support and medical attention.

There was very little time for sleep and in fact the team only got their heads down for 3 hours between midnight and 3am before the walkers set off for the next leg in the pitch black.

The club would like to thank everyone who sponsored individuals and to The Boot and Shoe who provided an end of challenge BBQ. The walk shirts were sponsored by Blue Arrow and our thanks also go to Brookshaws for supplying the meat for a gorgeous stew which helped the walkers through the night. Finally to Morrisons who donated vouchers.

By the end of the walk everyone was shattered and suffering from blisters and strains but really pleased to have raised over 4.5k for the cause.
