Crewe & Nantwich Under 16 players Ben & Tom Curry have been selected to represent England Under 16’s.

Tom & Ben (Photo: Left Tom, Right Ben) have been taking part in the Wellington College International Festival all week, representing the North of England U16’s. The festival includes U16 teams from the North, Midlands, London & South East and the South West. As well as teams from England there were also teams from Wales, Scotland, France and Italy.

After Wednesday's matches the 100 players from the four English regions were told whether they had made the 4 England squads.

Tom Curry has been selected to represent England U16’s and Brother Ben Curry will represent England Saxons U16’s. Ben has played all his junior rugby as a number 6, but the England management sees him as a number 7 like his brother. Given the fact that he has only played one game at number 7 it’s a great achievement to make the Saxons squad.

Tom has now started training with the England U16’s over the next two days in preparation for a match against Scotland on Saturday. They will then play Wales next Saturday.

Ben has started training with the Saxons squad for their match against Italy U17’s on Saturday.

The lads have been playing for Crewe & Nantwich since 2003! Congratulations to Ben & Tom and their very proud family.

After their International duties the lads will be back representing Crewe & Nantwich U16’s in the Cheshire Plate Final. The fixture against Chester takes place on Sunday 4th May at Sale FC.
