I hope all of you players are well and truly rested following the season and likewise wives and girlfriends are glad to get their weekends back and everyone is looking forward to our 25th Anniversary Ball on the 24th of June.
Please be aware if you still need tickets I would suggest you contact Kevin Crocker or Nicola Lloyd directly as we are nearly SOLD OUT! Which is Amazing! It promises to be a fantastic celebration of everything around Cricklade Rugby Club and also Cricklade so I am very excited by what is inpProspect as you should all be too!!
So just an update on Rugby Matters and where we are as a Club, hopefully you will all recall our Key Aims as a Rugby Club:
• Develop Mini’s Section
• Changing Facilities
• Player Retention/Development
• Develop 2nd Team
• Community Club
Develop Mini’s Section
This has been a massive Club Focus this year and been a tremendously successful 2nd full season and the first full season where we have played Matches at Under 6’s, 7’s and 8’s against Marlborough, Swindon, Minety and Fairford twice including our first Home game played at Prior Park.
A Huge Thanks to Prior Park particularly James Barton who is also integral in the Coaching Team but also to Lewis Palmer for his fantastic Coaching of the Children which was recognised by the RFU’s Mini’s representative on a site visit and a thanks to Ed Horner for support around the Administration.
Next year will see us extending this to Under 9’s which will be the first Age Group to experience Contact so should be interesting. We do need help though and more volunteers so if any of you are interested in doing some Coaching or want to get involved please let me know?
Here we are picking up pace once again - with our Application for final funding has just gone in with Community First this should see us gain the final money we need to get going full steam ahead all being well ahead of the Ball!
Simon and I are meeting with Container Company this week to discuss the Foundations, Delivery Process and also the spec of the interior of the Building from having a look at Westbury’s facility but it is coming together nicely so all being well you will be having showers after Training and Matches next season!
This for us as a Committee is an Area for concern as we are aware there are some players retiring, others moving on or in the case of our Skipper moving away who we do wish well by the way! We have some ideas in Committee we also need to bolster up the Coaching Group as Simon shouldered a lot of the burden with the able support of Rupert Jelley who stepped up tremendously well last season thank you to both. That said Simon is unsure of his commitment levels for next season so I am exploring options here currently but if others have ideas please come forward.
Likewise if there are any ideas around how we can advertise the Club and what we can do to get more Players ahead of next Season I would really welcome any ideas as we are discussing this within Committee and spent the best part of 45 minutes on the subject last night.
We have had some interest in terms of Mark's successor which is great and this will be taken forward to the AGM on the 13th of July 2017 please mark the date in your Diaries Venue TBC.
Develop 2nd Team
This is taking a Back Burner at the moment as we need to focus attention on the 1st Team and ensuring we have enough strength in depth as we move into 2017-18 season.
Here we have a forthcoming event that you would have seen a post on the Facebook Group from Jess advertising that we need your support with regards to the Cricklade Festival we need 6 or so Volunteers to support with an Hour of your time on Saturday the 17th of June in helping put Mats down on the School Field ahead of the Town Festival. Please get in touch with Jess, Jack, Rupert or Joe Cowley if you can offer a hand here. We will also need to support taking these Mats up on the 18th so once again I do appreciate any support people can offer this leads nicely into the below.
Finally we as a Club were successful in getting £500 to support the Nat West Rugby Force weekend which is actually scheduled for the 24th of June we can’t do that date for obvious reasons but we will be doing our Natwest Rugby Force weekend on the 1st and 2nd July.
Danny Harris, Vice Chairman will be leading this one and we hope to get as many volunteers as possible to do various tasks from clearing out the container, painting it, tidying up the Fence around the Pitch, getting the old Posts out from inside the Pitch to laying Top Soil on the Ground. Any support here will be gratefully received even if you can only give an hour of your time it would be fantastic - we will be offering refreshments and potentially a BBQ on the day.
If you have particular skills that you think maybe beneficial or tools to support on the day as clearly £500 will gives us some resource but we can only stretch this so far please get in touch with Danny directly.
So that’s it for now, the great news I hope for you all is your Committee is still hugely Active behind the scenes and I am very thankful to all the guys and girls on the Committee but we do still need everyone pulling together and events like the Nat West and the Ball are only successful if everyone gets on board and supports them so look forward to seeing you all at both of these events.
