Cropredy 2-1 Middleton Cheney Oxfordshire Senior League Saturday, November 17

After back to back losses in the Oxfordshire Senior League, Cropredy got back on track after a hard fought 2-1 win against local rivals Middleton Cheney on Saturday.

Cropredy started the game in a positive fashion, playing on the front foot in the Middleton half and creating good opportunities early on. The pick of these came following a dangerous ball into the box from Gavin Connor that found Dan Reeves at the back post. Reeves did well to control his volley with the Cheney keeper making a good save, with the second effort just going wide of the post. Against the run of play Middleton took the lead, Ross Atkins worked his way into the box down the left flank before cutting inside and curling the ball into the top corner.

The goal saw Middleton's confidence grow as looked to increase their lead, immediately after scoring the away side almost doubled their lead. A ball in behind saw Cheney's centre forward race through on goal, he lifted the ball over the advancing Kurt Fox but fortunately for Cropredy the ball dropped wide of the goal.

Cropredy equalised with 10 minutes to go in the first half, following a corner the ball broke loose in the box, after a few blocked efforts on goal skipper Chris Horn managed to find a way through to draw the home side level going into the interval.

A more determined Crop side came out in better form for the second half, starting well and spending good periods in the opposition half as they looked to build momentum. On the hour mark Cropredy edged in front, good work down the right from Aaron Dineen saw him advance to the touchline, his ball into the box found Jack Welch who took a touch before finishing well into the corner of the goal to make it 2-1. Cropredy continued to dominate possession for the final 30 minute as they created chances to finish the game off but couldn't find the net.

A hard earned win and much improved performance from last week, the result sets Cropredy up for a trip to unbeaten Kennington Athletic next Saturday, before 2 weeks without a game.
