Kennington 1-0 Cropredy Oxfordshire Senior League Saturday, November 24

Cropredy came away from Kennington on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline and ruing a host of missed opportunities to return with at least a point.

The opening exchanges of the half were relatively even, with Cropredy looking the more threatening in attack, getting in behind the Kennington back line on a number of occasions without carving out any clear cut opportunities. The decisive moment of the match arrived on the half hour mark following a neat passage of play from the home side. Following a spell of possession, the ball was worked down the right hand side and released Rob Andrews who squared a ball into the box and found Dan Fegan at the back post. With time to control, Fegan took a touch inside and dispatched into the corner giving the Kenny men the lead.

Cropredy went into the break a goal down but very much in the tie. Where the first half had been even, Cropredy definitely took the game to the home side in the second half searching for an equaliser. Many opportunities came and went, with front man Aaron Dineen causing the home side plenty of problems and using his frame very well. Joy continued to come down the flanks with wide men Jack Welch and Harry Walters causing problems and delivering into the box but unfortunately the goal never arrived.

Cropredy will play a lot worse and win games this season, it was a good performance that should have seen a return but a lesson in being clinical from a competitive Kennington side.

No fixture for the next 2 weekends for Cropredy before they head to Marston Saints on December 15th.
