Cropredy remain at the top of the Oxfordshire Senior League after a comfortable 6-1 win against Marston Saints on Saturday. The home side made a positive start and took the lead in the 15th minute, Dan Watkin heading the ball towards goal following a corner with Chris Horn reacting quickest to flick the ball beyond the advancing Saints keeper from inside the 6 yard box. Cropredy soon doubled their lead after a brilliant and precise free kick from Watkin who stepped up and picked out the bottom hand corner of the goal leaving the keeper stranded. Marston Saints got themselves back into the game on the 35th minute, a through ball saw Daniel Smith race clear of the Cropredy defence and finish well past keeper Kurt Fox.
Cropredy started the second half well and dominated possession without any real chances coming their way, however that changed in the 58th minute as Ryan Carter made it 3-1, Carter beat his man on the edge of the box before a unleashing a stunning finish which rifled into the top corner of the net. The goal deflated Saints and in form Cropredy ceased the opportunity to kill the game off, Chris Horn made it 4-1 after his 20 yard lofted effort found the back of the net via the underside of the bar, minutes later Horn had his hat trick with a header at the back post following a dangerous corner. Ryan Carter completed the rout scoring Cropredy's 6th after racing through the Saints the defence and clinically finishing past the hapless keeper. The win sees Cropredy open up a 4 point gap at the top of the Premier Division, this weekend they welcome Yarnton to the Williamscot Arena.
