Today the lads are away at local rivals Halton Hornets in a top of the table Northwest Counties Division 1 clash the game kicks off and both sides get straight into the game with some big drives and strong defence to match. The U13s and Halton are evenly matched and both teams are waiting for the other to make a mistake and soon the strong running Halton No11 breaks through the line from just inside our half and scores the first try the conversion is missed. As the match progresses the referee start to penalise both sides for infringements at the play the ball and frustration is creeping into the game but the lads keep at it and start to gain some quality field position and a fine pass from Callum Talbot
finds Bailey Hartley
running out wide and he steps through the Halton line and strides away to score under the sticks Luke Rabbitt
converts to give us a 6-4 lead. Crosfields start to dominate this part of the game leading up to half-time but with good field position are guilty of handling errors on the 1st and 2nd tackle which let Halton off the hook and against a team of this quality you must take your chances but we are unable to increase the lead as the ref blows up for half-time.
The match restarts and again both teams are spilling the ball and the game is slow and lacking a bit of composure as scrum after scrum are awarded, Halton soon put pressure on the Crosfields line and the first completed set of the second half the Halton No11 crashes over from 5 meters out the kick is converted. The U13s are as always working hard and trying to get back in the game and Aidan Rabbitt
is unlucky with a fine run and is held just short. At a Halton scrum on the halfway line the No8 stays out and is passed the ball he uses his power to break through the defence and sprints away to score under the sticks the kick is converted. Halton now have a bit of breathing space and as Crosfields attack and try and to reduce the arrears after another knock on they start to pass the ball out wide on there own line and the No14 breaks away down the flank the chase is on unfortunately Ben Dixon
and a supporting Halton player collide and Ben hits the floor with some force and with this being a neck injury the game is abandoned as a ambulance is required. A try is scored by Halton at this point and our best wishes go to Ben for a speedy recovery. Final score 22-6
