Really tough first run out
Creating 2 v 1's take the young Cobras over the line.
The first game of cobra's match got underway in the sunshine of Leigh, and the cobra's started the game off with the first run made by Alistair Robson who burst through the first tackle to make good yards for the following drive by Joe to also make great yards. Cobras were on a roll 3rd drive by Finn Hammill and we were 10m out, cobras 4th and the ball was passed thru 4 sets of hands eventually getting to Lewis Spencer out on the left wing, who after some quick footwork dove in the corner for the first try.
Wolves started their set much like cobra's with some good drives, but with a try-saving tackle on the 4th by Regan and Spencer to hold them out, on the 5th tackle and with a darting run by wolves saw them cross the whitewash to make the scores even at 4 - 4
Cobras on their next few drives again were making good yards, with Finn giving a great offload to Spencer Buller who with 4 sidesteps around the wolves defence danced his way over the line to make it 4-8.
Wolves weren't to be fazed by the Cobras going forward to cross to make it 8-8.
On 8 minutes, Lewis Spencer got his brace on the next set When he got the ball on the left wing and raced around the Wolves defence to score in the right corner 8-12.
The next couple of sets were stalemates with some great D from both teams, cobras with the ball in hand with a lack of communication fumbled the ball which gave the wolves the upper hand, and they took advantage of that by going in in the right corner 12-12.
After some hard-fought running and some massive hits by the cobras, an error was forced in which wolves knocked on, the player was unhappy and told the ref 'ur a load of shit' needless to say he got a good talking too ?
HT arrived 3-3
The second half started like the first, big hits coming in from the cobras forcing the error, on cobras next play a great move on the left with an offload by Josh Ackerley to put Charlie Rooney in 12-16, Some more great D by cobras saw them put the wolves player into touch, with their coach getting a tiny bit upset due to the rules around how many players can be involved not actually being written. 3 good drives by Josh Ackerley, Alistair Robson and Daniel Beaumont saw us deep in Wolves half, unluckily dropping the ball.
With a few missed- tackles the wolves raced over to make it 16-16.
Josh Ackerley got the next 2 tries with the highlight of a burst through from halfway to crash over 16-24, with their tails up and the opposition in disarray a brilliant offload by Josh York put Spencer Buller in for his 2nd 16-28. With time running out Wolves made it 20-28 with a drive bursting thru to cross. Last minute of the game and a handling error gave the Wolves the ball back 5m from our line, but no way was Finn Hammill letting them cross and with a huge hit kept them out, the game ended 16-28.
The team welcomed back Spencer Buller who was brilliant after a 9-month absence taking home man of the match,
Tackle champ was Finn Hammill
Coaches award too Alistair Robson
Top tackler Joe Gough
Opposition M. O. M Josh Ackerley
