Cobras vs Spring View

A dominant performance

Spring View visited the Crosfields fortress today, which saw the Cobras entertaining on the Main pitch and what a show they put on for the occasion!
Both teams were struggling for numbers today but with the assistance of Oliver Walsh and Jack Hensey dropping to their true age group for today we were able to play 10 a side. Thanks to both of you. Jack started the 1st half for Spring View and gave them some real direction. He switched to play for the Cobras in the 2nd half and continued with his great display. It was a good job as coaches were worried about letting Oliver switch at half time due to his fantastic display. Will Ogden also changed his top and turned out for Spring View in the 2nd half to keep even teams due to a Spring View injury. Thank you from the Coaches for turning out for the opposition and making the game possible. You showed fantastic sportsman ship and were a credit to our club whilst playing for either team.
Although a dominant performance by Cobras I would like to credit Spring View for their never say die attitude. They are a team in development who are new to the league this year and it wasn’t clearly on show. Cobras had to work hard for their tries. There was a lot of strong determined running on show, coupled with some nice smart passing out to the wings at the right time to put players through for tries. Both of our wingers, 2 breakfasts Mather and Kian McCarron benefited from this. Although both benefited from the work of others it is no detriment to them! It’s easy to take the plaudits when scoring tries, but both were 2 of our most fearsome tacklers in defence stopping Spring View from making ground time and again.
Whilst there is still work to do in defence, there was definite improvement with strong tackling being no issue, let’s just see us starting to move up after the play the ball as one defensive line. Charlotte Meredith, 2 breakfasts and Oliver Walsh were tireless at marker catching the 1/2 back on numerous occasions really stifling Spring Views ability to move the ball forward.
Well done to all, real improvements showing.
Try scorers - 2 breakfasts -3, George Slann -2, Charlotte Meredith, Kian McCarron, Oliver Walsh, Jack Hensey.
Some great kicks at goal saw conversions add to the points too, what a great alround team effort today with smiles galore!
