18 days agoHello HOODIES; It looks like we are about to receive our order; at time of writing this wonderful manuscript Colin had been advised we would have our order within a week…hooray!!!! PLAYER OF THE WEEK TROPHY; We are still experiencing difficulties with regard to the return of the player of the week trophy. It is absolutely imperative that the trophy is returned in time for the following week. If for whatever reason you are unable to attend the session after your child has been awarded the trophy then please make every effort to ensure the trophy itself makes it back in one piece and on time, failure to do this means we cannot award one of the players the following week, something they work extremely hard to gain and enjoy. Further to this as we have nearly 40 players on the books it is almost 4 months between awards for some players, with this in mind we are now the proud owners of two additional trophies this obviously improves the frequency of players qualifying for the award, reducing it to an average of every two months, attendance permitting. STATISTICALLY SPEAKING; As you may have noticed we have been diligently registering everyone in before each session, however you may not be aware we have been collating and monitoring attendance totals, and player of the week performance records. The winter training sessions, October to Christmas totalled 16 separate sessions either inside the sports hall & on the astro turf. We had two players, Harry Swaine and Sam Miller, who achieved an impressive 100% attendance record, two players missed just a single session, with an impressive five others attending over 80% of sessions hosted. We have averaged 29 players per session pre Christmas however we have enjoyed 32 players in attendance per session in 2012. WEEKEND SESSIONS; We have asked the club if we can use the astro turf again on a Saturday morning, the reply has been a positive one so we are now awaiting date confirmations as other teams are currently also using them to the cancellation of matches on grass due to poor weather. Please note the time has changed slightly and will be from 9:30am for a full hour, if you are unable to make these times due to other events such as swimming lessons please let Paul (W) know. COACHES & HELPERS; We now have Colin Osborne, Paul Wainwright, Daniel Anderson and Rob Danials in situ as coaches with parent helpers Paul Burrows, James Tromans, & Andy Gerrard giving us 7 regular volunteers for the coaching sessions; however this is still not enough, particularly when we start taking part in competitive matches. Please think carefully about helping your child and his team, we understand not everyone can make every session but two people making half the sessions is better than none at all. If you feel you can contribute in any small way please see Colin or Paul (W) Again I am confident you would enjoy it immensely and you can now get your own hoodie as well. NEW STARTER; We also have Jess Cahil helping out at training sessions, and will be with us for the next few months as she is working towards her Duke of Edinburgh award. Hopefully we will inspire her to go onto do her own FA level1 course as well. Jess plays for Crosfields Girls under 16’s and the club is very supportive of its young players and actively encourages them to help with the younger groups such as ours. With this in mind, if any of our players have brothers or sisters of a similar age to Jess and would be interested in supporting our sessions then please inform Colin or Paul. Again the club would be keen to assist them progress to FA courses if desired. LIAISON: There is also plenty to do “behind the scenes” and we will be in even more need of your support when real matches become the norm from next season. We will be looking to a parent liaison officer who, as the title suggests, will liaise between the coaches and parents to ensure any concerns, comments, ideas are discussed. We can happily have more than one volunteer. Again let us know if you are interested. MEETING; There is a coaches meeting scheduled at 3pm Sunday 5th February at St Joseph’s Club, you are very welcome to join us, we will be discussing a number of logistical matters plus provisional ideas for next season when we need to split the players into teams. SHIRT / TEAM SPONSORS; As with any voluntary organisation we are always relying on monetary support, with this in mind we are looking for kit sponsors when we start playing organised matches so if you are in the fortunate position of working for a company or who know a millionaire or even Russian billionaire who are able to offer some valuable financial support please let Paul or Colin know. CLUB WEBSITE; Could I please ask anyone who has yet to register to the clubs own website to please do so, it is an important communication strand the club is very proud of and there is some information everyone should be able to access, once registered you will receive a weekly email alert which includes club updates and junior football information.
