On Thursday 12 November, Jill Scott who currently plays for Manchester City Ladies and the England national team as a midfielder led a 2 hour futsal session with Crosfields JFC U13's and U15's girls.
Jill has received 100 caps for her country and was part of the "England Lioness" squad that received a bronze medal in the FIFA world cup earlier this year.
Jill's visit was organized by the Sporting Champions http://www.sportingchampions.org.uk who aim to bring world-class athletes such as Jill face to face with young people to inspire and motivate them to participate and further their interest in sport.
The six month futsal activity the girls section is currently participating in is being sponsored by Active Cheshire (http://www.activecheshire.org) who look to work with volunteers and clubs like Crosfields JFC to fund and support people in our county to get active on a regular basis.
Jill was fantastic on Thursday leading a great warm up session with the girls, then coaching their futsal (indoor football) game, giving top tips to the girls on how to improve their in-game performance, then allowing time to answer the girls questions, signing autographs and posing for individual & group photographs.
The Club is extremely grateful to Active Cheshire and Sporting Champions for arranging Jill's visit and supporting the extra footballing activities for the girls, which enables the club to attract new young players.
Best of all - Jill will be returning on November 19th to work with the girls again. We are all looking forward to her next visit !
