Warrington Futsal Tournament

“Futsal Magic” Paul Wainwright

Futsal came to town this weekend with three Crosfields JFC teams entering the mixed age group U9/U10 section of the Manchester Fusal Leagues Warrington competition.
Crosfields JFC teams Boca, Santos & Athletico had nearly 30 players from both age groups representing the club, with each & every one of them being real club ambassadors throughout the day.
Not only was the conduct of the players outstanding some of the football served up was a real joy, it was far from apparent that all were first timers to a futsal tournament and some first timers to futsal itself.
The club was very proud to see all three team make the tournament semi final where the game of the tournament took place between Santos and Athletico, this was a brilliant game of futsal played in the right spirit at break neck pace sprinkled with magical skills and great teamwork throughout.
Santos came out victors of this particular semi final and were due to meet either Crosfields Boca or Wallassey Albion who faced each other in the other semi final, in a hard fought encounter Boca, who had conquered a futsal dedicated team in the previous round, were constantly thwarted by the Wallassey keeper but eventually lost out to the Futsal specialists due to a wonderful strike.
So the final was set up with our proud Santos lads carrying the Crosfields flag, this was another hard fought encounter and again it was both goalies who were playing like super heroes somehow keeping the ball out. Sadly it wasn't to be our lads day as Wallassey's experience helped them to get over the winning line late in the game.
Everyone, players, siblings and parents alike really enjoyed the day enormously and whilst Wallassey were worthy winners they knew they had been in a really tough tournament.
It was agreed it would be more difficult for them to retain it next year as we strive to learn and improve ready for the return !
