Steve Birdsall came to present Crosfields JFC Under 7 Buccaneers with the Warrington Junior League Steven Birdsall Memorial Trophy

WJFL have this season inaugurated a new trophy - in Memory of Steven Birdsall, the marine and former Crosfields player who was killed in Afghanistan last year. It is for the Most Sporting Team in the league - all ages and divisions - as judged by the scores inputted after each match by the opposition.

Steven Birdsall's father, also called Steve and a former Crosfields JFC Coach, came down to training on a recent Monday and presented the trophy to the deserving winners: Crosfields JFC Under 7 Buccaneers team - Managed by Sean Artess. Paul Dawson, WJFL Chaiman spoke with passion about the qualities of Steve Birdsall and the importance that he places on this new trophy, "It is the most important trophy to try and win" said Paul.

Sean said that he was greatly honoured to have been awarded such a prestigious trophy but added "the credit must go to our young players and parents. I am very lucky to have the privilege to coach such fantastic young people and have the support of their parents"

Well done to Sean, Colin and Sarah, and most of all the parents and players of the U7 Buccaneers team.
